MATHS WEEK
Answer the Maths problem of the day in your category (junior or senior) and put your solution into the box by C3 Maths Resource Room. Make sure you put your name and form on your answer and place it into the box by the end of lunchtime. One randomly selected correct answer in each category wins a chocolate bar. As part of Maths Week, there will be a Sudoku tournament on Wednesday during lunchtime in C5. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest junior and senior Sudoku solvers!
Junior Question:
On the planet Glogg, the inhabitants are similar to human beings; however they differ in one respect. They either have 3 heads
and the normal amount of arms and legs (known as HEADERS) OR they have one head and 3 legs and 3 arms (known as LEGGERS). Last week, I was talking to a group of friends from the planet and between them they had 15 heads and 48 limbs. How many headers and how many leggers were there?

WHOLE SCHOOL: PUPUKE RAFFLE FUNDRAISER Pupuke are fundraising for their house charity - New Zealand Breast
Cancer Foundation - by selling raffle tickets. Tickets are $2 for one, $5 for three and $10 for ten. There are separate tickets depending on which basket you would like to win. You can buy tickets outside the admin office during lunchtime. Eunseo and Clarissa as well as several girls from the service committee will also have tickets available for sale, so look out for them - some will be carrying the donation buckets. The raffle baskets can now be viewed from outside the window at admin, where you can also see a list of items in the baskets. FUNDRAISER: 5 YEAR 12 ROWERS (Jessica Remmington, Caitlin Nugent, Poppy Logan, Sasha Ballantyne and Amber
Gorrie) are fundraising for the “Go Red or Women” Heart Foundation Campaign. We will be rowing (erging) for 9 hours at
Albany Mall, alternating each half hour. We aim to row 100km in total (20km each) and raise $2000.00 to go towards the Heart Foundation. The event will be held Saturday 24th August at Albany Mall – all day. There will be girls walking around school for the next few weeks with rand and white donation buckets and you can also donate on the day or online at /fundraise/page/westlakegirlsrowing Thanks for all your donations and support!!!
JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL – ALL YEAR 9 AND 10 PLAYERS: All year 9 and year 10 players that wish to play Junior Volleyball in
term 4 are to sign up in the sports department. Trials dates will be advised later in the term. Those girls that have already
signed up for Junior Prems need not sign up again.
