Section 2: Hazards Identification Description
6.8A Reproductive or developmental toxicant
9.1D Ecotoxic in the aquatic environment.
Irritating to the eye. Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Has harmful effects on blood, brain and reproductive organs (male & female). May result in sensitisation in some individuals through prolonged or repeated unprotected skin contact. Sensitisation can led to allergic reactions ranging from a skin rash to anaphylactic shock (which may be fatal). The active component (Oestradiol benzoate) is carcinogenic (causes cancer) and, being a reproductive hormone, can cause abortion or foetal deformities.
Section 3: Composition / Information on Ingredients Chemical identity of Hazardous Ingredients Content (%w/v) Section 4: First Aid Measures Description
In the absence of any allergic sensitivity, the short-term results of contact are skin rash or watery eyes. Mouth, stomach or
intestinal discomfort may occur if swallowed. For allergic individuals the symptoms are more severe, especially difficulty in breathing, and immediate medical assistance is recommended. Longer term, the development of blood or brain disorders,
cancer and abortion or foetal damage in pregnant women may result from over-exposure.
First Aid: If swallowed
Contact doctor or National Poisons Centre (0800 764 766). DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Wash out mouth thoroughly with water and give plenty of water to drink. For significant
quantities, lean patient forward or place on left side (head down, if possible) to maintain open airway and prevent aspiration
and refer for medical attention without delay. Provide a copy of this document to the practitioner.
Immediately hold eyes open and wash continuously for at least 15 minutes with fresh running water. Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping eyelids apart and away from eye and moving the eyelids by occasionally lifting the upper
and lower lids. If discomfort persists, seek medical attention. Removal of contact lenses after an eye injury should only be
Immediately flush body and clothes with large quantities of water. Quickly remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash affected areas with water (and soap if available) for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention if irritation develops.
Remove to fresh air. Lay patient down. Keep warm and rested and observe for any signs of an allergic reaction. If breathing is difficult, obtain medical attention.
Section 5: Fire Fighting Measures
Product is oil-based and contains benzyl alcohol. Will burn if heated or ignited.
Emits toxic fumes when exposed to fire or heat. Flash point: >3000C. Ignition temperature: not known.
Wear self–contained breathing apparatus.
Section 6: Accidental Release and Disposal Measures Description
Emergency procedures: Ensure suitable protective clothing is worn. For small volumes, chemical-resistant gloves and goggles will suffice. For large
volumes, protective boots and overalls should also be worn.
Spilled product and washings must be prevented from entering any drains or waterways, or from contaminating the ground.
Keep all bystanders away. Wear appropriate protective gear.
Re-position any leaking containers to minimise any further leakage. Dam and absorb spill with an absorbent material (sand
or soil). Shovel the absorbed material into a drum or similar robust container. Dispose of in an approved landfill. Decontaminate the spill area with detergent and water and rinse with the smallest volume of water possible.
Section 7: Handling and Storage ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS
When handling wear chemical-resistant gloves and goggles. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using. Wash hands thoroughly after use and before meals. Avoid self-inoculation.
Keep out of reach of children. Store in original container, tightly closed, away from foodstuffs. Store upright in a cool
place. Do not freeze. Protect from light.
Section 8: Physical and Chemical Properties Description
Will burn if heated or exposed to ignition.
Section 9: Stability and Reactivity Description
Stable under recommended storage conditions.
Temperatures exceeding 300C or less than 20C.
Solvents which may degrade the container.
Strong oxidising agents (eg peroxides, permanganates, nitric acid etc).
On heating to decomposition, emits toxic fumes.
Section 10: Toxicological Information The information below applies to Oestradiol benzoate

Section 11: Environmental Information Description
Ecotoxic in the aquatic environment (low levels of the hormone in waterways may lead to adverse genetic, reproductive and developmental effects in aquatic organisms).
Slightly ecotoxic in the soil environment because of its potential genetic, reproductive and developmental on terrestrial organisms.
Section 12: Disposal Considerations Description
Dispose of this product only by using according to the label, or by controlled incineration or at an approved landfill or other
