HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Health Effects: Dragnet has low oral, dermal and inhalation toxicity.
The talc used in this product contains no asbestos fibre. Most health problems associated with
occupational exposure to talcs appear to evolve mostly from the nonplatiform content of the talc
used (being the asbestos-like amphiboles, serpentines (asbestiformas) and other minerals in the
form of acicular, prismatic and fibrous crystals including, possibly asbestos). Dust of nonfibrous
talc, consisting entirely of platiform talc crystals and containing no asbestos poses a relatively
small respiratory hazard. Exposure at or below the TWA (2.5 mg/m³) is thought to protect workers
from the significant risk of nonmalignant respiratory effects associated with talc dusts.

HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION (Continued)
Safety Phrases: S2 Keep out of reach of children. S24/25 Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Acute:
Swallowed:

Dragnet Dust has low oral toxicity; the Acute Oral LD50 (rat) 12,000 mg/kg (calculated).
Eye Contact:

Skin Contact:
Non irritating to the skin. Acute Dermal LD50 (rabbit) > 2000 mg/kg.
Inhaled:.
Low inhalation toxicity. Acute Inhalation LC50 (rat) > 5.27 mg/L/1 hour. It may irritate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
Chronic:
No data available on this formulation. In studies with laboratory animals, Permethrin Technical did not cause teratogenicity or reproductive toxicity.
FIRST AID

Swallowed: If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone
Australia 131126. Rinse mouth with water. Dilute by giving 1 or 2 glasses of water. Seek medical advice. Flush with water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation occurs and persists, obtain medical attention. If on skin or clothing, remove any contaminated clothing at once, and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. See a doctor if irritation persists. Inhaled:
Remove to fresh air. If breathing discomfort occurs, contact a medical doctor. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

Exposure Standards: No exposure limit has been assigned to permethrin by NOHSC
Australia. However, a NOHSC Australia Standard for talc has been set: Time Weighted
Average (TWA) = 2.5mg/m³.
Engineering Controls: Thoroughly ventilate all transport vehicles prior to unloading. General
air replacement or dilution ventilation is sufficient for material handling and storage, but local
exhaust ventilation should be used when filling or emptying this product.
Personal Protection:
Work Clothing: For normal handling, wear long sleeve uniform or overalls and head covering.
For larger exposures, as in the case of spills, wear full body cover barrier suit, such as rubber
rain suit.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE (Continued)

Eye Protection: Where potential dust exists, wear chemical protective goggles.
Contact lenses pose a special hazard as soft lens may absorb irritants and all lens concentrate
them. Emergency eye wash facilities would be located nearby. Avoid contact with the eyes.
Respiratory Protection: For dust exposure, wear a half face air purifying respirator which is
approved for dusts (Australian Standards). Respirator selection is based on an airborne
concentration.
Gloves: Wear chemical protective gloves when handling this product. Inspect regularly for leaks.
Personal Hygiene: Wash skin before eating, drinking or smoking. Shower at the end of the
workday.
Flammability: Slightly
SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
Road & Rail Transport: Dragnet Dust Insecticidal Powder is not classified as a Dangerous
Goods under the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail.
Marine and Air Transport: Dragnet Dust Insecticidal Powder is a Marine Pollutant according
to International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code and the International Air transport
Association (IATA). If transporting by sea or air the following Dangerous Goods Classification
applies:-
UN 3077, Class 9 (Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods), Packing Group III, Proper Shipping
Name ENVIRONMENTALLY HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE, SOLID, N.O.S. (Contains 2%
Permethrin).
Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.
Store in a separate room away from children and animals. Do not locate near or contaminate
food, drink or animal feed by storage or disposal. No smoking eating or drinking should be
allowed where material is used or stored. Wash all exposed skin surfaces prior to smoking
drinking or eating. All workers should shower at the end of each work day after handling this
product. Wash all clothing after each use.
Spills and Disposal: In the case of spillage contain spilled material by dyking with material
like sand or clay. Large spills should be covered to prevent dispersal. Dispose of waste as
indicated below or according to the Australian Standard 2507 - Storage and Handling of
Pesticides. Wear prescribed protective clothing and equipment. Keep out animals and
unprotected persons. Keep material out of streams and sewers. Vacuum, shovel or pump
waste into an approved drum. To decontaminate spill area, tools and equipment, wash with a
suitable solution (ie organic solvent, detergent, bleach or caustic) and add the solution to the
drums of wastes already collected. Label for contents. Dispose of drummed wastes,
including decontamination solution, in accordance with the requirements of Local or State
Waste Management Authorities.
Puncture or shred and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is
available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up

for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots. Empty containers and
product should not be burnt.
Dangerous to Fish: Do NOT allow spilled product or wash solution to enter sewers, drains, dams,
creeks or any other waterways.
Fire/Explosion Hazard:
Degree of Hazard. Material may support combustion at elevated temperatures. Thermal
decomposition and burning may produce toxic by-products.
Hazardous Decomposition Products - Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen chloride, chlorine, hydrogen chloride and sulfur dioxide. Extinguishing Media - Foam, CO2 or dry chemical. Soft stream water fog only if necessary. Contain all runoff. Special Fire Fighting Procedures - Isolate fire area. Evacuate downwind residents. Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus. Do not breathe or contact smoke, gases or vapours generated. OTHER INFORMATION

No data is available on Dragnet Dust Insecticidal Powder. The following information refers to
Permethrin.
Environmental Toxicology: Permethrin is considered highly toxic to fish and aquatic
arthropods and has LC50 values which range from 0.02 µg/L to 315 µg/L. The aquatic
arthropods tend to be some of the more sensitive species. Marine species are often more
sensitive than freshwater species. Permethrin is slightly toxic to birds and the Acute Oral LD50
values are greater than 3,600 mg/kg. Do not contaminate sewers, drains, dams, creeks or any
other waterways with product or the used container.
Environmental Properties: Permethrin has a moderate rate of degradation in soil. It is stable
over a wide range of pH values. Because permethrin has a high affinity for organic matter,
there is little potential for movement in the soil or entry into ground water. Permethrin has a
low Log Pow of 6.1, but because of the ease with which biological systems degrade the
molecule, the potential for bioconcentration and accumulation in the environment is low.
