Hollywood Ending for Client’s Wellness Initiatives UMR Care Management’s worksite wellness approach is working, and you can read about it in a new case study. The success story describes how UMR total health management customer Century Gaming Management - Hollywood Casino used worksite wellness to create a cultural shift toward better health among employees. The company formed a committee made up of employees to promote its wellness initiatives and encourage co-workers to take responsibility for their own health. A UMR worksite wellness coach then met with committee members to discuss the value of biometric screenings, the clinical health risk assessment process and health coaching. UMR also provided materials to administer employee wellness challenges. Following these efforts, 87 percent of employees completed their CHRAs and health screenings, and participation in coaching improved by 18 percent. The case study can be ordered using form number UM0771. Podcasts on UMR.com A new podcast video entitled “The Cost of Being Overweight” can now be accessed through www.umr.com. Find out what works by checking the National Weight Control Registry (NWCR), the nation’s largest database of individuals citing specific lifestyle behaviors that helped them lose weight and keep it off. A group of medical professionals launched the NWCR in 1994 to better understand the factors involved in weight-loss maintenance. The registry now boasts more than 10,000 adults, all of whom have maintained at least a 30-pound weight loss for a year or longer. Registrants self-report their weight loss successes electronically by completing a detailed lifestyle survey. Annual follow-up surveys are used to track the participants' progress over time. Examples of factors associated with successful weight-loss maintenance include eating a healthy breakfast, weighing one’s self on a weekly basis and exercising an hour or more each day. A communication was sent to UMR customers on Jan. 26 outlining our Lipitor strategy,
which includes placing generic atorvastatin in formulary Tier 1 and keeping brand-name Lipitor in formulary Tier 2. Since the communication was distributed, a decision was made to change the exclusivity period end day from May 31, 2012, to April 1, 2012.
An internal communication was also sent on Feb. 1 announcing the Pfizer Oral
Contraceptive Recall and providing talking points that could be shared with customers. The main message is that Pfizer announced a recall of certain lots of Lo/Ovral®- 28 and generic norgestral/ethinyl estradiol oral contraceptive pill packs. The recall is due to a packaging error where some blister packs may contain an inexact count of inert or active ingredient tablets, which may be out of sequence. Due to this packaging error, the daily regimen for these oral contraceptives may be incorrect and could leave women without adequate contraception and at risk for unintended pregnancy.
For more information about these communications, please contact your UMR Client Manager.
